Grellmann (1787) collected the form Weʃch ‘A Wood; A Forest’ with the same meaning from Continental gipsies. Smart & Crofton (1875) collected the forms Vesh and Wesh ‘a forest, wood’ from English Gypsies. Form baysh cited by Canadian Paul Pope (2013) as ‘a forest’.
